Don’t let its city-like appearance fool you.  Seattle is actually a small place.  Everyone you used to know will eventually show up again to cycle through your life for another round in some way, shape or form.  My husband’s boss from another lifetime now runs a farm on Vashon Island and has joined the back to the land movement.  Maybe you remember Kurt Timmermeister and Cafe Septieme?

Having already successfully brought his Camembert style “Dinah’s” cheese to market, he will now begin making a new hard, aged cheese called “Francesca’s”.  I read in SeattleMet magazine’s August Issue, Food Lovers Guide to Seattle, that he just finished excavating a cheese cave on his 13 acre farm in order to age the cheese properly.  I’m looking forward to trying Francesca’s, and to reading Kurt Timmermeister’s new book Growing a Farmer which will be released in January 2011.
