Watching football is always better if you have a delicious sandwich. They go together. Whether it’s the high school game on Friday night, the college game on Saturday or the NFL on Sunday, a good sandwich makes sense. Sandwiches are easy to hold if you are munching at the stadium or chowing in front of the TV. There is probably a reason so many sandwiches are named after Vince Lombardi.<\/p>\n

Here are five of Heidi’s sandwich ideas that are perfect for the big game. Each sandwich has been tested and approved by a Fresh By Northwest football fan. \u00a0These all take a bit more work to get the right ingredients but it’s worth it. 1. Pacific Northwest Fresh Albacore Tuna Sandwich<\/a><\/h2>\n
This isn’t the tuna sandwich you grew up with. \u00a0This sandwich uses fresh Pacific Albacore tuna from the Washington and Oregon Coast. Homemade mayonnaise. Good bread. It’s a little more work than using canned tuna but well worth it. Tuna is best until October, so this might be best for early season games.<\/p>\n
2. Meatloaf Sandwich<\/a><\/h2>\n
I’ve always liked meatloaf as a sandwich better than meatloaf as an entree. Too much catsup. But in a sandwich the next day it’s perfect. This recipe uses horseradish which gives it the right kick. Served with a nice lager this sandwich will keep you full until the post game show.<\/p>\n
3. Muffuleta Sandwich<\/a><\/h2>\n
This sandwich is an event so you might want to save it for the playoffs. It was invented in New Orleans, where they know a thing or two about football. This sandwich has many layers of meat all compacted together to make an explosion of flavor. This sandwich is dense and travels well which makes is ideal for enjoying it when you are at the game.<\/p>\n
4.\u00a0 B\u00e1nh Mi<\/a><\/h2>\n

\nThe connection between\u00a0B\u00e1nh Mi and football started with Uwajimaya<\/a> and the Seahawks. Before going to Seahawks games I like to go to Seattle’s Uwajimaya and buy a couple of\u00a0B\u00e1nh Mi. They are shaped like a hoagie so they are easy to wrap in butcher paper and take into the stadium, and the kick of the chili pepper and the radish is great with a beer on a crisp fall day.<\/p>\n
5. Grilled Cheese\u00a0for Grown Ups<\/a><\/h2>\n
This sandwich doesn’t travel well so it’s best for watching the game at home. I like to have it with the tomato soup<\/a> (click the link in the sandwich recipe). This grilled cheese isn’t the one you make for the kids. This is grilled cheese for big boys. The secret is using good cheese.<\/p>\n
