Creamy Tomato Sauce

Inspiration
This is a very easy, basic creamy tomato sauce. For variety, add different herbs.
Hint
A non-reactive container is one that will not react chemically to with the acid in fruit, peppers, vinegar, or salt. Stainless steel, plastic, and glass are non-reactive. Aluminum and copper are reactive.
Ingredients
1 14 1/2 oz. can crushed tomatoes in puree
1 tsp. lemon juice
1/2 tsp. kosher salt
1/8 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 cup finely chopped fresh herb (basil, marjoram, tarragon) or 1 tbsp. dried leaves (not ground)
1/2 cup heavy cream
Procedure
- Combine all ingredients except cream, in non-reactive saucepan. Heat to a low simmer and cook for 3-4 minutes, until flavors blend.
- Add cream and simmer until sauce thickens slightly.
